THE FOUNDING FATHERS
Eric Schlosser in his first chapter 'The Founding Fathers' describes about one of the fast food industry pioneers- Carl N Karcher. He tells the life story how Carl left his home town and started a new life of being successful by promising himself. At the time of progressing and making steps towards success, automobiles also became more affordable to he common man which increases the number of buyers. The increasing in automobiles started influencing fast food business and which created new life for the enterpreneurs like Carl who opened the restaurants with drive-in facility which enable the purchase of food without leaving car. This helped to grow the fast food industry by adapting the business to consumer requirements.Further in this chapter Schlosser also gives highlights about the McDonald's brother who even worked hard , had ups and downs in success and became successful. He more over tells how different chain restaurants were established. He mentions about the current well known restaurants like Dunkin Donuts by William Rosenburg, Burger King by Keith G. Cramer, Domino's by Monaghans brothers, etc. In this whole chapter he tries to tells us about the fast food restaurant owners who worked hard, struggled and receive success in life by following the policy of 'having faith in progress.'
